News From the Herd--May 18, 2014

This Week’s Events
Labels for Education Points Contest Ends May 23--Buffalo Trail is collecting Labels for Education from now until May 23 with a goal to collect 4,000 points.  The classroom that brings in the most labels from participating products will win a popsicle party.  Participating products include Campbell’s, Dannon, Pepperidge Farm, Swanson, Spaghettios, V8, Pop Secret, and more.  For a complete list of labels, please click on Labels for Education

Book Fair is May 21st-23rd--The used book sale is this week.
May 21st is a shopping day for students that brought in books for the book sales and have a yellow presale ticket
May 22--8:30 to 10:00am and 3:30 to 4:30pm
May 23--8:30 to 10:00 am
Students must attend with a parent to purchase books.  Only cash and checks will be accepted.  See attached flyer for more details.  If you’d like to volunteer to help at our book fair, please click here to help.

Coming Soon--SAVE THE DATE!
Box Top Contest through May 30th--Please turn in your box tops to your teacher using the attached form.  Each completed sheet will be entered to win a $25 gift card to the Rockies Dugout Store good toward tickets or merchandise.  Congratulations to Buffalo Trail families for raising over $2400 with box tops this year!

Family Movie Night is May 30th--Join us for Family Movie Night on Friday, May 30th on the kickball field at Buffalo Trail.  Starting at 6:30pm we will have hot dog meals for sale or feel free to bring your own picnic.  We will be showing “RIO” and the movie starts around 8:45pm.  Admission is free so bring a chair and a friend! Other Important Information
EduKits--The Edukit website, which enables you to purchase school supply kits for your child, is ready to accept orders  If you would like to order an EduKit, please click Order Now! The ordering deadline is May 31st.  

Skate City Summer Membership Cards--Purchase a summer Skate City membership card at the front office before and after school thru May 30th for only $3.00.  Then Skate all summer for $1.00 per session.  Please have exact change or check only to Buffalo Trail PTCO.    

Parent Information Network (PIN)--PIN is an organization in the Cherry Creek School District dedicated to families. PIN’s goals are to inform parents about current issues impacting youth today and give parents positive tools for raising healthy children. There are superb national and local speakers at every meeting that address relevant topics. Podcasts of previous speakers are available at their website:  http://www.pinccsd.org/.

Volunteers - How can you impact our students?
PTCO is in need of volunteers for our next school year.  It’s a great way to meet new parents in our community and make an impact on our students.  Where can you help?  What skills can you bring to the group?  How can you show your child that they mean enough to you to help by getting involved and helping others?  If any of these positions or committee opportunities appeal to you, please respond to this email with the area you are interested in.  We will contact you to answer any questions you may have and discuss the next steps!

Co-Fundraising Coordinator: (Board Member)
• Attends all board meetings and general meetings, • Organizes and schedules all fundraisers for the school year that are approved by of the Board,including but not limited to the Fall Fundraiser,Spring Fundraiser (if needed) and School Supplykits, • Handles correspondence with fundraisingorganization; including contracts, fees, deliveries, solicitations, • Follows the procedures set forth by the organizationo n handling monies, • Coordinates the necessary items needed to participate in the Earning 4 Learning, Box Tops, &Campbell Soup’s Labels for Education programs i fparticipating in them, Coordinates Restaurant nights throughout the year,organizes flyers, and follow up with the restaurants.

Events Coordinator - Chair:
• Organizes and coordinates all events held by PTCO throughout the year, • Schedules and coordinates Children’s Programs with Staff’s schedule and needs, • Organizes two or more programs throughout the year for BTE community, • Develops committees to assist in planning of the events and oversees the planning, • Follows budgets set forth for each event and follows money policy for handling and reimbursements, • Works with Board and Staff to assist with success of the events, • Attends all general meetings and board meetings only if requested.
