Stand Out Math Summer Workshops

		May 13, 2013    Parents: Reminder  - the Smoky Hill Math camps are filling up quickly - reserve your child's seat today! STANDOUT Math is conducting 2 sessions of our Summer Math Camp Program this summer at the Smoky Hill Library. Most elementary schools in the Cherry Creek School District utilize our math vocabulary curriculum during the school year to help your children learn and retain math concepts.  We have adapted our curriculum for our Summer Math camp to help your children retain what they learned last school year and to prepare them for their upcoming school year. Our unique  curriculum is designed to integrate listening, speaking, writing and body movements into learning and retaining math vocabulary.  Research shows that children forget up to 50% of what they learn during the school year over the summer. Help your child retain what they learned last year and get a jump-start on next year by enrolling him or her in our camp. Our Math Camps are offered for children entering Kindergarten and 1st grades, children entering 2nd and 3rd grades, and for children entering 4th and 5th grades. We are offering 2 sessions of 3 50-minute classes for each grade level.  The first session will be held in June (June 11, June 18, and June 25) and the second session will be in August on (8/6, 8/13 and 8/15).  The summer sessions will be a great review and preparation for next school year. The Math Camps are taught by STANDOUT Math Trainers who are also certified teachers.  A sampling of topics we will cover during the camps include the following:  Vocabulary for 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional shapes Mastering Fractions Creating and interpreting graphs Chants and songs for remembering math facts Solving number sentences for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division Mastering Measurement Computation Review The camp costs $79 for all 3 sessions and our Registration Form can be downloadedhere.
